Conquering Kokoda for Lives!

Story

Hello Everyone!

In October 2012...

At the age of 18 I set out on my first adventure of a lifetime with Inspired adventures to the Lares Valley in Peru. (See there's me at the top of a mountain!) My goal was to make a difference to mental health in Australia. On this journey I struggled, smiled, grew and became inspired by people and their ability to live. The genorosity of people who donated and the genuinity of those I went with has changed my life and because of this I keep trying to help.

But what's next?

This time I'm aiming for a bigger challenge. In April 2014 I will be taking on the Kokoda Trail to raise vital funds for Lifeline. It will be one of the hardest things I will ever do physically and mentally and I'm excited to give it a go because I'm passionate about making a difference to mental health in Australia.

What this Inspired Adventure means to me

Mental health has been an important part of my life for a number of years now. After personally being affected and diagnosed with depression at the age of 16, I know the difference an organisation such as lifeline can make. Today I am now stronger, ready to live and inspire others along the way! Lifeline has helped me. In moments of doubt about life, reaching out to lifeline helped me to get through and learn to enjoy each day. Now it's my turn to help somebody else have the same realisation.

The Fast Facts

  •  6 Australians will commit suicide every day
  • For every completed suicide there are an estimated 30 attempts
  • 180 suicide attempts per day
  • 1014 people think about suicide everyday
  • 1 in 5 Australians will be affected by a mental illness

Why I'm really doing this

Now you know why mental health in Australia is important to me. But more than that, it's about being inspired! In October 2012 on my last inspired adventure I was lucky enough to meet a group of people who were passionate about life. They taught me that every day is important and every moment counts. That's why this adventure is in honour of Rory Hayward- thank you for teaching me important life lessons and helping me to teach others the same.

It's about Support

This time I am lucky enough to be sharing this experience with my friend Nikki Sanders and together we shall support each other through a life changing event, every step of the way. Inspiring others to reach out for mental health support in times of need.

Thank you for your donations and support. Every dollar counts no matter how great small for this not for profit organisation. Together we can make a difference and change lives!

Thank you again, you're not forgotten.

Naomi Robinson.
